Why is the AOL audience so stupid?

We watch "Millionaire" at night sometimes to unwind before retiring, and I'm perplexed by the following. If the contestant "asks the audience" for help in answering a question, they poll both the local audience and an online audience sponsored by AOL. The local audience is almost always more right than the online audience. Sometimes the AOL audience doesn't elect the right answer at all, and even when they do, they don't do it in numbers as strong as the local audience.

Isn't the AOL audience online? Can't they use Google to find the right answer? What gives?
