Harriet Miers
Like many I suppose, I am surprised at President Bush's nomination for Supreme Court Justice. We were frequently told during the presidential campaign that experience matters, and yet here is a nominee who has no judicial experience whatsoever, nor does she seem to have a background I can find on constitutional law. It is said she will be a strict interpreter of the constitution, but what can that mean given no real experience arguing or hearing cases based on our constitution? I would like to see a woman appointed to the Court, but surely it's an insult to women if the nominee is qualified only because she is a woman. Experience and education matter, Mr. Bush? Your actions suggest otherwise, and it seems more important whom you know. Comments
By the way, she's a Panther . . . Hillcrest class of 1963. Posted by: Dana at October 10, 2005 12:05 PM Wow, who would have thought that? I'm still glad she's out of the running though. Posted by: rkc at October 28, 2005 12:50 AM |
