Hockey and my son, what should I do?
As many of you know I've fallen for the sport of hockey, and even though I'm not very good at it, I really like playing and trying to get better. Now, whenver my son hears me talk about hockey, he sings the following song:
For some reason, which I suspect has to do with teasing me, he has gotten it into his head that he would not at all like to try or play hockey. Meanwhile, I think it would be a good thing for him to try. I've been taking him skating for the past 3 years (he's now 6). Also there's a great program in Creve Coeur that loans you equipment so your kid can try hockey without you having to mortgate the house for equipment. I'm really thinking this is a good idea....am I making a big mistake? Am I skating on thin ice here? Advice sought and welcome! Comments
I have no pithy advice for you, but I get the feeling I'd really like your son based on his song. Posted by: Rachel Otto at June 21, 2005 10:05 AM Replace "hockey" with "piano." Would you give him lessons or not? Let that be your guide. Or not. I don't have any kids, so I'm working on pure speculation here. Posted by: Chris2 at June 21, 2005 3:29 PM Wow, thanks. He is very easy to like. I think I would get him to try piano. In fact, we did; he didn't like it; he stopped; and he just wanted to start up again a month or so ago. So we'll give it a try.
