The Blast triumphant

The Blast played its summer playoff game last night, and I'm proud to report victory. We beat the team whose name strikes fear all across our land (Team 12). They even had a secret weapon last night: the much feared but now sneered goalie Cavin.

The game was exciting, with Blast leading most of the time, but Team 12 rallying to tie us. Then, while short handed, Frank Karfs got a breakway one-on-zip against the aforementioned Cavin, and scored. Things got tense in the third period as we drew penalties and had to play with two in the box. But we held them and won.

We even got simulated-gold trophies to commemorate our victory.

It's hard to top simulated-gold, especially simulated-gold trophies, but I'll try. Congratulations! When does the fall season start?

With the impending NHL lockout, I'll be dependent on the Blast for my hockey needs. Good luck with the season!

We probably start mid- to late October. There were noises that Wash U might do (college) hockey again this year, too -- if you want to see it happen, write Prof. Kevin Truman and tell him so. For the past year or two they just played in the Brentwood league.

They'll probably bump us up to B level play so might get pounded this year. Guess we'll see...
