The mixer of many colors
Most Friday nights in Summer I play guitar with a group at our Temple. In the past this has involve schlepping amplifiers to the place, and setting them up in a way that they are too loud close to us and too quiet far away. Inspired by a recent visit from Rick Recht, I bought a mixer this past week and we flew it for the first time tonight. It was amazing. The thing mixes our guitars and feeds the result through the house PA system. The result is a nice balance of the guitars and sound that is heard everywhere at the right time. And the thing weights less than 10 pounds. It senses what kinds of inputs it has -- microphone, line signals, etc., and routes things through the proper preamp. I haven't been this excited about a piece of electronic equipment since I bought my first "nice" sound system in the 80's. Comments
I starts with a mixer... soon you'll be carrying your own speakers... and then you'll hire a professional to work the equipment... and then you'll realize that you're in concert. I think that's how it happens. Posted by: Ed at June 5, 2004 1:38 PM Well, what are sabbaticals for anyway? Posted by: rkc at June 5, 2004 4:51 PM |
