Evidence in: they're back

This past Friday, I went over the the Ratskeller Subway to buy an overpriced, understuffed wrap, and spotted somebody who looked like a student in line behind me.

Me: Are you a student?

Him: Yes

Me: Oh, I had heard that you were coming back sometime around now.

Him: Yeah, vacation's just about over.

Me: Are there more than just you coming back, or are you the only one?

Him: Well, so far there aren't many, so maybe it's safe.

Me: That's what I thought last semester, but they all came back. What are you studying here?

Him: Law; we have to come back early. I did poli sci as un undergrad here.

Me: Ah, well looks like I better get ready for class if the students are really coming back this time.

Yeah, the students always ruin it for the professors, don't they?

Well, most eventually graduate so I guess it's OK after all.
