Why this is such a great place

I've been taeching cs102 this semester, and the final project involved a multiuser version of one of my favorite arcade games: whack-a-mole.

There's one student in the class who is going well beyond the call of duty and making a bot to play the game -- it goes after moles and whacks them automatically. He's doing this mostly for the fun and challenge of it. Amazing.

Actually, working with all the students has been a treat this semester. It's the first time I've done 102 all the way through, and I've been able to attend labs and see how well the students are progressing with solvoing problems that involve concurrency and communication.

This is why Wash U is such a great place to teach. Spread the word.
