Bach to basics by Ben

I was treated to the piano stylings of Ben Brodie, who poerformed Bach's Prelude in d minor from the well-tempered clavier collection.

When Ben first sat down at the piano, he looked like he might start to row it across the auditorium (he could probably do that too, especially after taking on super powers from eating oatmeal creme pies). He played well -- it sounded like a hard piece. Bach's music for piano (clavier) seems harder to me than the works he wrote for organ.

The recital was surprisingly underattended, but they don't advertize the thing at all. I don't get it. These students work hard all semester preparing pieces, and then they play for those who happen to show up.

In any case, congratulations to Ben, who will soon be heading to the land where pages turn counterclockwise.
