House moving, Sat 11 Jan 2003, 7 AM

Dave Jurgens (working on CS102 new labs) and I checked out a phenomenon on Forest Park Parkway this afternoon. There is a house, just directly across from Wash U smoke stack, and from my office window I've been watching them levitate the house about 2 feet from grade. Dave and I went by today to ask what they were going to do with the house aloft, and it turns out they are going to move it, first South onto the Parkway, and then East about 100 feet and North again to its next resting place a few houses East of where it started.

Why did the house cross the road? It is being moved to make room for Metro Link.

Wouldn't it be great if the house got pulled over for speeding on the Parkway?

In any case, the move is set for this coming Saturday at 7 AM if you want to watch.

I'd been wondering about that all week. Thanks for getting the time and date, because Kevin (http://students.cec.wustl.edu/~bkg2/loft/) was hoping to do a motion capture of it.

My pleasure -- I hope the date and time is right.
I'm not sure what they'll really do but the foreman
gave me the info I posted.
